Outland World Premiere

Outland, the new comedy series about a gay science fiction fan club premieres Wednesday and Thursday nights in February on ABCTV. Director Kevin Carlin and DOP Joanne Donahoe-Beckwith worked closely with Blue Post to give each episode a look that related to a particular sci-fi film or TV show. Feature films such as Alien and sci-fi programs like Blake’s 7 and Star Trek were all presented as references for colourist Marcus Smith. VFX supervisor Paul Gehrig worked on a number of visual effects shots across all episodes, including a foreboding sky replacement shot in episode four, where a swirling sky gathers around the top of a dilapidated building, covered in digitally created graffiti.

Beaconsfield

Blue Post has just completed online and VFX work on the telemovie “Beaconsfield”, produced by Southern Star/John Edwards for the Nine Network. Shane Jacobson (Kenny, Top Gear Australia) and Lachy Hulme (Matrix Trilogy, Let’s Get Skase, Offspring) head an outstanding cast who tell the story of the amazing rescue of Todd Russell and Brant Webb from the collapsed Beaconsfield mine in Tasmania five years ago. Blue Post supervised and created over 30 VFX shots for the final film and director Glendyn Ivin and DOP Toby Oliver worked closely with colourist Marcus Smith to create the inky blackness of existence hundreds of metres underground. The film is due to screen in 2012.

Anatomy 3

Post-production has just concluded on the 3rd series of “Anatomy”, three new documentaries exploring art, sex and the body. Produced by Matchbox Pictures for ABCTV, the three very different stories were shot predominantly with Digital SLR cameras and continue the series’ tradition of visually striking and provocative films.

The Triangle Wars cinema release

After a number of successful screenings at MIFF this year, the Triangle Wars was given a limited cinema release at the Classic Cinema and Cinema Nova, amongst others. Blue Post completed all online and grading work on an amazingly complicated project, shot with many different formats over a number of years.

Rush season 4

The exciting 4th series of Rush wrapped up the popular drama this year. Featuring an overarching story thread through the 13 episode series, there are many twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Blue Post completed all finishing work on the shows’ 70 episodes and are proud to have been a part of this great Australian series.

Production commences on Offspring series 3

Shooting has started on the 3rd series of Offspring, the successful Southern Star/John Edwards comedy/drama for Network TEN. Set in and around the inner-city Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy, the 3rd series promises more of the intriguing ups and downs in Nina Proudman’s life as she struggles to deal with her unpredictable family.
